  • Never ask an ad rep to place a story
  • Practice your pitch: you'll have 2 minutes
  • Keep your fact sheets handy -- and up-to-date
  • Always respond to every inquiry
  • It’s ok to say "no"
  • Insist on respect
  • Keep records > work samples, correspondence
  • Use technology: e-mail, WWW site, databases, directory searches
  • Honesty is ALWAYS the best Policy
  • Perseverance pays
