Poets & Writers Online The ultimate site for writers, this site won "Best of the Web!" CNET 6/97 and rightfully so. The hub for all things literary so immense and thorough it's redundant to spin tales about this mega-site. They offer contests, conferences and much more. Don't be shy with the links, they get you places.

The Associated Writing Programs   Straight, no-nonsense information from this nonprofit organization founded in 1967 at Brown University. The creators, 15 writers who were then directors of creative writing programs, were on a mission to represent the presence of writers in colleges and universities. Find job services, creative writing programs, conferences, resources and more ... so get serious.

The Joys of Journaling We are looking for a good resource about journaling. If you want to suggest one, please email us. Thanks!.

PEN American Center  An awareness builder for the freedom of expression via the written word and much more. PEN offers grants,  global issues regarding freedom of expression, resources for writers, emergency funds, etc.etc. A major support for writers on many levels both politically, professionally, and personally.

Eclectic Writer   This site is very instructional and how-to driven. Learn how to write queries, a synopsis, self editing techniques and plenty of other helpful tools. Links to other literary sites are also in abundance. It never hurts to learn another technique.    One caveat: the page uses Java and load times can frustrate.

The Slot, A Spot For Copy Editors   Bill Walsh, a self described curmudgeon and a copy chief at The Washington Post, gives writers a wry and witty ride through the minutiae of his noble profession. An excellent resource to help us all become aware of the effect our style and choices have on the landscape of the printed word.

Paradigm On-line Writing Assistant  A trove of insight and advice for every step in the writing process, from discovering what to write to exploratory writing to editing.

John Hewlitt's Writer's Resource Center  Hewlitt, a very resourceful writer, shares his knowledge base about everything from creating characters to overcoming writer's isolation with lots of how-to anecdotal gems along the way. Packed with articles and information on loads of topics. This is not redundant stuff. Plenty of meaty and helpful information with one of the better compilations of quotes from famous writers and personalities to make you think, smile, laugh and wonder.
