| Books will never go out of style. Anyone who says the Internet/Web will replace reading should be asked to explain why so many books and book stores can be found online! We think it is a great way to get the post-literate generation enthralled with the written word. The type of "paper" on which it is written (rag, linen or phospherous) is irrelevant. The idea is to read!
The Electronic Labyrinth
Everything you ever wanted to know about hypertext but were too afraid to ask. Written from a straightforward, literary standpoint, this ginormous site will appeal especially to any creative writer and literary historian who is interested in knowing about the origins and implications of the non-linear writing movement. An extensive bibliography plus a timeline on the evolution of the printed word are included.
Powells
We're not going to attempt to list every great bookstore in the world (although we're working on that project right now), but we just have to point you to the wondrous Pwells. Worth an in-person trip to Portland, Oregon (USA).
Amazon.com
No list about books would be complete without the darlin' of the online shopping web sites.
