These are our unsolicited comments about organizations and products and services we can't imagine doing without. No clients, no paid endorsements here.
Animal Planet
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Otters and rabbits and birds; Turtles and kittens and dogs. All animals all the time! Not to mention that Aussie croc hunter from Queensland. Our favorite shows: Animal Doctor (exploits of the Australian RSPCA) and Emergency Vets (pets on gurneys at Alameda East Vet Hospital in Denver). Animal Planet comes with basic cable; if your operator doesn't carry it, bark, yelp, howl until they do.
Hewlett Packard
We are HP junkies, plain and simple. We've got their PCs, printers, scanners, you name it. If they made a 'fridge, we'd buy it. If they made a *car*, we'd buy it. Dang, they're good. Why? Service. They make good, solid things and then back them up with knowledgeable, friendly staff who unfailingly do their utmost to help you, whether it's to figure out how to get that DVD burner drive to work or to rush a replacement part for the inkjet you just bollixed up with a staple in your scrap paper. These folks set the standard.
Pez
Fun to eat, fun to say, the perfect icebreaker and
snack-on-the-run.
Post-its
Is there a Nobel Prize for Office Supplies? Runners-up: Sharpies and those teeny quality-engineered binder clips.
Dover Publications
This noble enterprise offers a VAST array of copyright-free clipart, classic literature in one-dollar paperbacks and lots more. We use Dover clipart to supplement our own archives and have been known to just buy an extra copy of, say, Victorian Costumes, and use it as a coloring book on long trips. Thank you, Dover.
